A Project Called Life

A Project Called Life is something I have been mulling over for about a decade. The words came to me early on, but I didn’t know what they meant - or what they could be. Then I had my son and it all became clear.

There are many mom blogs, Instagram accounts and all manner of parenting resources out there, but I couldn’t find what I was looking for: musings on motherhood infused with a Waldorf and Montessori outlook on raising a family. Embracing simplicity and a slower pace, even though my days can feel anything but slow with an active toddler.

My posts are as open-ended as my son’s toys - from nurturing a home life and working creatively, to finding the best kid’s shoes or discovering a favorite new book. It’s a hodgepodge of things. But then again, so is life. Welcome to mine.

Short Story Serial - Emma Escapes

Murder seems to follow Edwardian maid Emma Tussel wherever she sweeps, dusts and polishes.

In the tradition of Charles Dickens, Harriet Beecher Stowe and countless others, this is a serial with a modern twist. ‘Emma Escapes’ is a mystery series told through weekly images and text on Instagram.

Story No. 1 is called “Cabinet of Wonders’ and will launch in Winter 2020. Read each installment at @emma_escapes_serial or check back here.

About the Doll: I found her at a vintage flea market off a random backroad in Vermont. She had a handwritten card attached to her wrist that read: ‘1901. Was supposed to go on a ship to India.’

‘Sounds like this doll has a story,’ I thought. Turns out, she does.
